Dr. Bassam Frenn, Director General of the Industrial Research Institute (IRI), hosted an official delegation from the Syrian Arab Organization for Standardization and Metrology, led by its Director General, Dr. Yasser Aliwi, in the presence of Engineer Lena Dargham, Director General of the Lebanese Standards Institution (LIBNOR). The visit featured an executive meeting, an extensive tour of IRI’s specialized laboratories and research centers to showcase its technical capabilities and inspection infrastructure, and a final convening in the lecture hall. Dr. Aliwi praised IRI’s operational excellence and highlighted accreditation as a key starting point for future alignment, while IRI Director General emphasized that quality infrastructure relies on Standards, Conformity Assessment Body and Accreditation. Ultimately, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, exchanging technical expertise, and enhancing product safety to protect consumers and support economic integration across the region
