On March 20, 2024, the National Institute of Vine and Wine, established by Decree No. 5638 dated September 19, 2019, in collaboration with The Industrial Research Institute, organized a scientific forum titled “The First Lebanese Wine Science Colloquiuim”
The Director General of Agriculture, Engineer Louis Lahoud, The Director General of Economy and Trade, Dr. Mohammad Abou Haidar, The Acting Director General of Industry, Engineer Chantal Akl, in addition to The Director General of The Industrial Research Institute, Dr. Bassam Frenn, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Vine and Wine, Mr. Zafer Shawi, were among those present at the official session.
Moreover, members of the institute’s board of directors from both the public and private sectors participated in the colloquium, as well as representatives from wine producers from various Lebanese regions, universities, research institutions, laboratories, chambers of commerce, industry, and agriculture, the Industrialists Association, employees from public administrations and institutions, and university students.
The forum included an official session and three scientific axes: 1- An overview of wine-related activities, 2- Wine production under current climatic conditions, 3- Innovative techniques in wine production. National and international speakers presented available information and findings from studies they participated in on the topics discussed, allowing room for discussion and reaching appropriate recommendations for each.
