Minister of Industry Joe Issa-El-Khoury chaired the Board of Directors Meeting of the Industrial Research Institute, in the presence of the Institute’s Director General, Dr. Bassam Frenn, and the members: President of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists, Mr. Selim Zeenni; President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, former Minister Mohammad Choucair; Representative of the Order of Engineers, Engineer Adnan Hassan Alayan; Mr. Sarkis Boudakian; Dr. Jean Chamoun; in addition to the Institute’s Legal Advisor, Attorney André Nader; and Deputy Director General and Administration and Financial Director, Mr. Selim Kfoury.
The meeting included a comprehensive presentation on the current state of the Institute and the damages it sustained as a result of the recent war, followed by a discussion of the financial situation and the challenges facing the Institute in this regard. Attendees also addressed issues related to personnel and administrative developments, and explored ways to enhance the Institute’s performance and expand its services in the coming phase. The discussion also covered the Institute’s strategic plan for the coming years.
This year holds special significance, as it marks the twentieth anniversary of the Institute’s achievement in obtaining international accreditation, a milestone that made it the first research institute in the Arab world to receive such recognition. This accomplishment has firmly established its status as a trusted and reliable national and regional scientific and industrial reference.
